The Smashing Pumpkins have unveiled plans to release a free album.
The Smashing Pumpkins have been beset by troubles in recent times. An American tour last year saw singer Billy Corgan drop the band's twenty year back catalogue in favour of extended noise jams.
Greeted with boos and cat calls by fans, gigs were marred by walk outs and friction between The Smashing Pumpkins and their fans. At one show Billy Corgan invited a fan onstage to make his point, but this led merely to even more widespread criticism.
However the band aim to strike back with a new 44 track album. Titled 'Teargarden By Kaleidyscope' the record will be released one track at a time.
Outlining the release process in his blog Billy Corgan said: "Free will mean free, which means you won't have to sign up for anything, give an email address, or jump through a hoop."
"You will be able to go and take the song or songs as you wish, as many times as you wish" he added.
In a blog posting on Tuesday (September 15th) The Smashing Pumpkins singer also revealed that the record is based on the tarot card 'The Fool's Journey' and that it is a lengthy concept album.
Corgan claimed the album will be a return to "the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins: atmospheric, melodic, heavy, and pretty".
Of course, this isn't the first time Smashing Pumpkins have given away an album - back in 2000 the band released 'Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music' over the internet.
en espérant qu'il soit meilleur que le dernier....
