| BADLY DRAWN BOY releases his new single ‘Too Many Miracles’ on October 3rd. The single is the first to be taken from his forthcoming new album ‘It’s What I’m Thinking Part 1 – Photographing Snowflakes’, due for release the same week on Damon’s own new label, One Last Fruit.
‘Too Many Miracles’ will be available to download at all the usual places on October 3rd but will also be available as 500 limited edition prints (reportage style shots covering a recent afternoon spent with Damon in his neck of the woods - Didsbury, near Manchester) the week before, each carrying a unique photograph of BADLY DRAWN BOY. Collect the set! On the back of each print will be instructions on how to download the single. This will be available from independent UK music retailers on September 27th. As part of the download package with the print, fans will get an exclusive version of “Shake The Rollercoaster”, a track that originally appeared on BDB’s first EP, re-recorded recently when Gough was putting his new album together.
The iTunes download single includes a remix of “Too Many Miracles” by Tim and Sam’s Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam, one of a number of acts from the North West of England who will feature on “It’s What They’re Thinking”. This album is a version of the forthcoming BDB album that has been created to promote up and coming talent from and around Damon’s home town, and will be available in the limited edition deluxe box set of the new album

| We are very excited to announce that New West Records will release R.E.M. Live From Austin, TX, the latest DVD from the acclaimed PBS Austin City Limits (ACL) television series, on October 26, 2010. Taken from the band's March 13, 2008 ACL concert, which has been edited into an hour TV show, the DVD contains an extended performance including three songs never aired on the original broadcast. The 17 songs have been re-mixed and re-mastered in LPCM stereo and DTS-HD 5.1 surround sound to provide the highest-quality concert DVD available. R.E.M. Live From Austin, TX, captures the band "at a pivotal moment in their career," says ACL producer Terry Lickona. The DVD, Lickona adds, presents a band "still breaking new ground and still doing it their way." R.E.M. Live From Austin, TX clocks in at just over an hour and features songs spanning the band's career up to their most recent album Accelerate. Austin City Limits, the longest-running music show in American television, will re-air the original broadcast of the performance on November 27th, 2010. Check local PBS listings for broadcast information. R.E.M. is currently in the studio in Nashville putting the finishing touches on their latest studio album due out spring 2011 on Warner Bros. Records. Tracklisting: 1. Living Well Is The Best Revenge 2. Man-Sized Wreath 3. Drive 4. So. Central Rain (previously not broadcast) 5. Accelerate 6. Fall On Me (previously not broadcast) 7. Hollow Man 8. Electrolite 9. Houston 10. Supernatural Superserious 11. Bad Day 12. Losing My Religion 13. I'm Gonna DJ 14. Horse To Water 15. Imitation Of Life (previously not broadcast) 16. | Hello there, In an attempt to add a personal touch to these things, I thought I’d write this newsletter myself (I’m Aidan, obviously). I really should pull my finger out and get stuck into all that Facebook and Twitter stuff, but I just don’t feel the need to share my every thought with the internet. To genuinely enjoy the benefits of Twitter, you need a pretty gargantuan ego and an enthusiasm for self-promotion, neither of which (hopefully) I have. But the benefits do seem apparent, and the rewards can be plentiful for the minimum of effort, so writing this mail-out myself is an attempt to step in such a direction, and at least this way I know that you, dear reader, have volunteered your email address to my website and are therefore moderatelyinterested in what I've been (and will be) up to. So let the shameless self-promotion begin, and advance apologies for the rather lengthy missive that follows, but there seems to be a lot happening and I do tend to go on a bit. News, in Chronological Order: The Year Of Open Doors. This year I contributed a short story to a new anthology of vaguely Scottishfiction called The Year Of Open Doors, edited by the one and only Rodge Glass. You may even have read an earlier version of the story if you’ve ever seen that column I used to write for the Vice website – it’s called The Donladson Boy, and an earlier draft of the tale was uploaded there some many moons ago. Needless to say, the new version’s better (although the changes were pretty minimal – what a difference the odd word and new sentence can make!) and if you’d like to read it you should be able to [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] order the book from Amazon now >>>_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1284405024&sr=8-1 <<< and find out more about it atCargo Publishing >>> [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] <<<. There’s also an audio version of my (and everyone else’s) story available from Chemikal Underground, which you can buy here >>>>> [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]Arab Strap Is Dead. I was recently asked to make some promotional films for an Arab Strapcompetition on, ironically, Twitter (or something, I don’t really understand and I didn’t enter it myself). The reason for this is that the first two Arab Strap albums, The Week Never Starts Round Here and Philophobia, have been reissued in CD form. The big box-set, Scenes Of A Sexual Nature, is now sold out, but some of the BBC content we released with that format can now also be found on the bonus discs of these new double-disc deluxe editions. The long edit of the film, Arab Strap Is Dead, is on YouTube >>> [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] <<< and the CDs are available from Chemikal Underground >>> [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] <<<. Where else? Ten Short Songs For Modern Lovers. On rare occasions, I receive an email from my music publisher with a brief for a television ad in the hope that I might have a suitable song to help punt some corporate brand. I’ve never been keen on doing ads, but I’m not remotely rich and I really do need the money, so I have a new philosophy of Say Yes To Everything. I didn’t have anything suitable for this particular brief, but I’d had the first two lines of a song floating around my brain for a while, and they seemed to have the right sort of ‘vibe’. I wrote and recorded the minute-long song and was pretty pleased with it, and apparently the corporation in question quite liked it too, but then they decided to completely overhaul the idea for the ad, which rendered my song useless. So I was left with a wee song that I was quite proud of (it’s called ‘Buttoned’), and I didn’t know what to do with it. Then I was reading yet another doom-and-gloom article about the continual decline of the music industry, and how the album as a concept is moribund – which isn’t quite true, but that’s a conversation best left for the pub – and how these days it’s all about The Song, the individual, downloadable hit single. So I had a brainwave: I would write and record a ten-track album that would fit on the classic and original single format, the 45 rpm 7” vinyl record. I persuaded My Better Half to take my son out for most of a sunny weekend and locked myself in the flat to write and record what has now been titled Ten Short Songs For Modern Lovers. The 7” comes out in October from – you guessed it – Chemikal Undergound, with a downloadable digital version to follow in November. Which kind of defeats the original intention, I know, but I had to come to a compromise somehow, and the sad truth is that many of you don’t have record players anymore. And further down the line . . . The first single from my new album with Bill Wells comes out onValentine’s Day 2011. The album is now finished and scheduled for a Spring release. And in the fairly distant future, I will be reuniting with an old friend todo something . . . different. Gigs: Not a lot confirmed as yet, but I am trying to plan some solo dates around the UK in November to coincide with the 7” album release. However, there’s one gig that I’m very much looking forward to this month – I’ll be supporting myself twice at the Paisley Arts Centre (near Glasgow) on the 17th of September. There will be one set from Aidan John Moffat, one set from Aidan Moffat & The Best-Ofs, and another set from Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat. We’re looking to do the same thing in London early next year too, possibly on Valentine’s Day so get it in the diary now! Paisley details here >>> [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] <<<. Phew. I did warn you it was going to be a long one, sorry. As a reward foryour patience, below is a download link for a new MP3. It’s a live, acappella version of one of the most beautifully sad soul songs ever written,I Don’t Care Anymore, originally recorded by Doris Duke. If you like the MP3, I highly recommend you seek out the original. It’s on her album, I’m A Loser, which pretty much tells you all you need to know. Buy it! But first, get my rendition here >>> [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]<<<. Cheers, Aidan | |

| Although it's never been announced officially, there are now reports that a remastered version of Achtung Baby has been put off until 2011. U2Valencia.com says the released has been delayed from September, 2010, until March, 2011. This remaster has never been confirmed by U2 or Universal Music, but a Belgian site first posted the September 2010 date earlier this year, and caused nearly 10 pages of posts in our forum.
A 2011 release, frankly, makes more sense since next year will be Achtung Baby's 20th anniversary. The delay may also clear the way for U2 to release a new album later this year, as has been rumored.
